Preventing Officer Assignment Override

LEAs can control whether coordinators are able to reassign officers from each others’ jobs. An LEA administrator can adjust this setting by navigating to the Officer Approval and Assignment rule section of the agency settings page. LEAs can choose to either enable or disable the setting for “Prevent officer assignment override.” It is disabled by default.

  • Enabled - Once an officer is assigned to a job by one coordinator, only that coordinator or an LEA administrator can pull that officer to assign them to a conflicting job.
  • Disabled - Once an officer is assigned to a job by one coordinator, any other coordinator can pull that officer to assign them to a conflicting job. The first coordinator will receive a notice that their officer has been pulled from the first job.

When “prevent officer assignment override” is enabled, any coordinator who attempts to reassign an officer who is already assigned to a conflicting job will receive the error message: “The officer you are attempting to assign is already assigned to another job and your agency does not allow reassignment.”
