In February 2023, RollKall added new options for job posters to ensure that they can efficiently fill client requests for officers, while also staying within policy and gaining more control of how jobs are assigned.
With RollKall, job posters have various options for assigning jobs to officers, including giving jobs to applicants based on seniority, how many jobs or hours they've already worked, or on a first-come first-served basis (just to name a few).
Most of these assignment rules have a sign-up period where officers can apply for the job. At the end of the sign-up period, the system assigns applicants to the job according to the assignment rule selected by the job poster.
Job posters now have control over whether the job remains open to new applicants after the sign-up period, if there are still any unstaffed positions left over. This is done by checking or unchecking the box "After sign up period has expired, post job as first-come first-serve to original group" in the job posting window.
The job poster also has the option to keep the job open to fill the remaining positions on a first-come first-serve basis.
Some departments may wish for jobs to remain open to applicants even if a job has already started. This is especially true for events that span multiple days. For example, if a festival begins on Monday morning, and it is Monday afternoon, officers could still apply for positions at the event on Monday evening or Tuesday. This also allows for more positions to be added during the event if additional officer support is needed.
This feature must be enabled for the agency by the agency's RollKall administrator.
